Emma Alice (Seymour3, Jane2, John1) had her birth in Jefferson Township, Cass Co., Mich., July 1, 1858. She is the youngest child of Seymour S. and Harriet Davis. Until she was eight years old her life was spent on the farm in Jefferson. The next four years were spent in the little village of Brownsville, Mich. In 1870 she went with her father's family to Blue Rapids, Kansas.
She was married July 29, 1882, to Winfield Long, and became the step-mother of the two motherless children left by the death of her sister Marion. They resided in Vicksburg, Mich., until 1899, when they removed to Chicago, Ill. Mr. Long died Aug. 9, 1901. On October 15, 1908, Mrs. Long went to live on a homestead claim she had taken up ten miles from Judith Gap, Montana. Her cabin there has been her residence since then with the exception of a short time each year spent in visiting her children in Chicago. She is two or three miles from a neighbour, but enters into and enjoys the social spirit of that land.
She superintends the breaking of the soil on her farm and rejoices in the healthfulness and beauty found around her new home.

Eva Grace (Emma4, Seymour3, Jane2, John1) is the only child of Emma A. and Winfield T. Long. She was born April 29, 1887, in Vicksburg, Mich. Two years later her father removed with his family to Chicago, Ill. She was educated in the public schools of that city, graduating from high school June, 1904, and from Chicago Kindergarten College, May 1907. She then became a kindergarten teacher in the Chicago schools.
