Seymour S. (Jane2, John1) was born in Ontario Co., N.Y., Sept. 23, 1815. In January, 1821, he came with his mother and step-father, Abner S. Beels, to Royalton, Ohio. A few years later he removed with the family to Parma, near Cleveland, Ohio, where he resided until he was a young man. For a few years he was a sailor on the Great Lakes during navigation season. During the winters he worked on Manitonline Island, cutting wood for a steamship company. He was married Aug. 4, 1840, to Miss Harriet Jackson, who was born Dec. 28, 1823. Soon after his marriage he went to Sheboygan Falls, Wis., and purchased land. He cleared the farm, built a frame house, and made other improvements. About 1850 he moved to Jefferson Township, Cass Co., Mich. Here he engaged still in farming. In 1866 he lost his right leg through disease. Being no longer able to do farm work he moved to Brownsville, Cass Co., where he kept a store. In 1868 he lost his home and store by fire. In 1870 he removed to Blue Rapids, Kan., where he purchased a farm on which he resided until his death, March 15, 1884.

His wife died Feb. 9, 1860. Mr. Davis was the favorite brother in his mother's family. He was a kind neighbour, a loving father, and an earnest Christian. He was loved by all who knew him for his amiable and noble character.

Delilah Maria Davis (Seymour3, Jane2, John1) was born Nov. 20, 1843, at Sheboygan Falls, Wis. In 1850 her father removed with his family to Jefferson township, Cass Co., Mich., where she resided until the spring of 1870, when she went with her father's household to Blue Rapids, Kan. At an early age she united with the M. E. church. During her young womanhood she was taken with St. Vitus' dance, from which she suffered for the remainder of her life. She was a helpless invalid for several years and died at her father's home in Blue Rapids, April 4, 1880.

Julia Elizabeth Davis, (Seymour3, Jane2, John1) second daughter of Seymour S. and Harriet Davis, was born in Sheboygan Falls, Wis., on July 24, 1845. In 1850 the family removed to Cass Co., Mich., where her life was spent. She was a beautiful girl and lovable in character. She united with the M.E. church while still a young girl and was an earnest, consistent Christian.

On October 18, 1866, she was married to Joseph Strong, of Mason, Mich. She died March 5, 1873. She had no children.
