Polly R. Gordon Gillispie

Polly Rozella, (Sarah2, John1) the fifth child of Sarah and William Gordon, was born July 8, 1837, in Tekonsha, Mich. Here her early life passed in attending school and performing her share of the home duties. Rozella, as she was called, became the bride of Calvin Gillispie, Apr. 24, 1859. They settled on a farm near Tekonsha where, with the exception of the year 1861, spent in Clarence, Mich., they resided until the death of Mrs. Gillispie. She died Feb. 28, 1880.

Mr. Gillispie was born in Spring Arbor, Jackson Co., Mich., April 13, 1836. He died Oct. 14, 1896.

Clara, b. Feb. 2, 1863, d. Mar. 28, 1896.

Ada Gillispie Hoffman Merrifield

Ada G. (Polly3, Sarah2, John1) is the elder of the two daughters of Rozella and Calvin Gillispie. She was born Mar. 4, 1860, on the farm in Tekonsha, Mich., where she grew to womanhood. She was married Oct. 19, 1878, to Louis Hoffman, and had one child by him. She was married Oct. 9, 1889, to Charles Byron Merrifield, who was born Dec. 29, 1844.

Mr. Hoffman was a fine musician and was the leader of a band. Mr. Merrifield was engaged in the livery stable business in Union City, Mich. He died Nov. 10, 1909.

Mrs. Merrifield is a member of the M. E. Church. She resides in Union City.

Nettie Hoffman, b. Aug. 9, 1880.

Vera Merrifield, b. June 15, 1903.

Nettie Hoffman Martin

Nettie, (Ada4, Polly3, Sarah2, John1) the daughter of Ada and Louis Hoffman, was born Aug. 9, 1880, in Union City, Mich. She was married to Charles Martin, Oct. 4, 1889. They are farmers and reside near Union City, Mich. Mrs. Martin is a member of the M. E. Church in Union City.

Flavil, b. Sept. 2, 1902.

Ila Laurene, b. Feb. 8, 1908.

Clara Gillispie Doyle

Clara G. (Polly3, Sarah2, John1) was the younger daughter of Rozella and Calvin Gillispie. Her birthday was Feb. 2, 1863, and her childhood home, Tekonsha, Mich. She became the wife of James Doyle, July 15, 1884. One child, Fern, came to gladden their home. Four years later, March 28, 1896, Mrs. Doyle was called from earth to heaven.

Fern Doyle

Fern, (Clara4, Polly3, Sarah2, John1) only child of Clara and James Doyle, was born Dec. 3, 1892. Her mother died when Fern was four years old. Her uncle, John Doyle, adopted the motherless little one and has reared her as his own daughter. They reside in Tekonsha, Mich.
